In her work, Tamara Janes has been exploring the possibilities of photographic image processing and the effects of the ubiquity of high-resolution images in media and advertising for several years. In "Poor Images Noise Series #2", she uses various photographs that she alters with the help of image editing software. Her approach, which presents itself as an act of resistance against the generalization of high-resolution images, is based on the works of Hito Steyerl, which use "poor images" to infiltrate the current media resonance space.
Following this approach, the installation "Low Res Love" consists of 151 paving stones painted with red, green and blue paint. These are comparable to pixels and symbolize the highest image resolution currently available in digital cameras (151 megapixels). On the wall is a portrait of Steven Sasson, the inventor of the first digital camera.
